Day 12 -
Soft Caramels
Ingredients:
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup butter
1 can condensed milk
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup of melted chocolate chips (if you want to dip caramel pieces in chocolate after)
Instructions:
1. Butter OR line a 9x13 tray with parchment paper
2. In a medium size sauce pan heat brown sugar, corn syrup, butter, and condensed milk bringing it to a boil. (This part takes awhile. It starts off getting chunky, than slowly turns a light brown, and eventually all melts. You do want to stand over it and stir it while it is melting so it doesn't stick to the pot or burn)
3. Once its all melted and you have brought it to a boil, put it on a medium heat and stire constantly for 10 minutes
4. Pour into a 9x13 buttered or parchment paper lined tray.
5. Cool completely before taking off the paper and cutting
6. Dip pieces into chocolate if desired
7. Enjoy
I personally got to as from as completely cool and take off the paper. Above are the instructions I followed off pinterest, the persons pictures everything went all smooth and looked awesome. Me in real life not so much.
I can't get it off the parchment paper, I let it cool completely last night and tried, I could get the edges up off the paper, so I put it in the fridge over night, this morning I tried again, it came off a bit more but nothing major. I now have them sitting in the freezer see if maybe that will help. My guess I should have buttered the parchment paper.
But I ripped a little piece off this morning and it does taste good!!!
So over all its a good tasting recipe, but a not so easy recipe to follow and separate from the paper
